Pun Time

Did you know I entered a ’pun’ contest one time? Actually, I entered ten puns. You see I was trying to win $1,000. That was the gist of the contest. Whoever turned in the winning pun received the big prize. I diligently worked on what I thought were very funny puns. I was so confident that I already knew where I would spend the money. So, did I win you may ask? Honesty compels me to tell you that no-pun-in ten-did!
That was supposed to be a funny joke, I hope you got it! If not, go over it again and again until you get it. But today I am thinking about words. Sometimes we get stumped over words. In the Bible, there are some big words. However, we should not get discouraged because the words are big. The meaning and the teaching is often simple.
Jesus did not want us to be in the dark because of the words. He wanted and wants to be understood. He has a message for us that is almost undeniable and unable to turn down. It is a message of faith, hope and love. He has for us things we all want out of life. Things like joy and peace. So why do people find Him easy to resist? I think He is irresistible, but evidently not.
Big words like, redemption, condemnation, sanctification, justification, righteousness and salvation are indeed Biblical words. But, their meaning is for us all. The intent is to meet us where we are and not further complicate things. Be sure of this… Jesus wants to be understood. These are not ‘puns’ to fun around with.
By the way did you know …
I started a company selling land mines disguised as prayer mats? Prophets are going through the roof. Or that I’m super friendly with 25 letters of the alphabet? I just don’t know why. Did you hear about the guy whose whole left side was cut off? He’s all right now. Need an Ark? I Noah guy. How does Moses make coffee? He brews it! Dumb huh? Let’s not get the truth mixed up with the puns.
