MY CHURCH COMPARED TO HIS CHURCH!

My church is a place where my kind of people surround me. My church plays my kind of music and has my kind of worship. My church supports my life-style and accepts my commitment as is. My church has my kind of preaching too. In fact my church is a place where anything I want and like will happen. You see it’s my church and I can do anything I want in my church.
It is the tendency of the ‘me generation’ to turn His Place into my place.
But let me tell you about His place. His place challenges me at every level. I want comfort, like a relaxed rubber band, but He wants me stretched and at times to the limit. I want convenience but He wants to pull me deeper and deeper into areas of service, even serving in areas I am not good at. I’m quite content with my friends as they are although some of them could clean up a bit, but He is always trying to get me to expand my involvement with others. In His place, He never seems to be quite content with my addiction to being comfortable. He is concerned that I might quit growing.
Now I know this about the people I serve. None of them expect us to turn this place into my place or your place. We want it always to be His place, where His priorities always trump mine and yours. I’m a sinner by nature and a Christian by spiritual birth. This sinner needs to worship in new ways and find new ways to express my love for Him. This sinner needs to be taught how to be more like Him and less like the old me. This sinner needs to be faithful to Him even in these changing times.
