My Best Contribution

     Everyone likes to give good gifts.  Gifts that are appreciated, useful, appropriate and at the same time don’t cost so much.  Boy what could be better than that?  Well after 40 plus years of ministry, I’ve determined that my best and most outstanding contribution to the kingdom of God and to every fellow Christian I have ever served by way of teaching and preaching, would be prayer.  Not necessarily praying for you, although that would be good, but rather teaching or encouraging you to pray more yourself.  Yeah that’s it.  The best contribution I could make to you and the kingdom, would be an increase of prayer.  If I could convince you to pray five more minutes a day than what you do right now, I have served you and Him well, very well.

     The times we live in will require more not less prayer.  The times are challenging, you and I need to petition the throne on God for people to stay faithful, for our nation to return to common sense (which is the Christian value system) and for the gospel to be proclaimed loud and clear.  I remember one time when Jesus had been on a mountain top with Peter and John, as they were coming off the mountain they were met by the rest of the disciples.  They were in confusion because they tried to cast a demon from a young man’s body and were unable to do it.  Jesus said “This kind can come out only by prayer.” (Mark 9:29)

     There are many demons in our world, now is the time to pray and cast them out.  Now is not a time for backsliding and giving up.  Be strong and courageous, brothers and sisters need us, our nation needs us, the kingdom needs us and our prayers. 

      My gift to you is prayer, will you receive it?  Will you use it?  Will you help reverse the trend of slothful, rebellious lawlessness?
