Money in Heaven?

I heard about a man who was dying and he knew it.  So he instructed his wife to get all the money he had saved out of the bank.  She was to put all the money in large bills and place them in a bag.  Next she was to place the bag in the attic hanging from a rafter.  The idea was as he ascended to heaven he would grab the bag on his way up.  Being the dutiful wife she did exactly as he wanted.  The day came and he died.  Months went by and the wife thought to herself, I wonder if he took that money hanging in the attic?  So, she went to the attic and to her surprise the bag of money was right where she had left it.  She thought about this for quite a while, then she thought maybe I should have put it in the basement. 

No one buys their way into heaven.  No one takes money with them to heaven.  Once a person is in heaven, no one will care or even remember the importance money had been in their lives. 

Now it’s very clear money is necessary to get through life.  We all need money and we all think we need more of it.  It is hard for us to imagine a time when we won’t care about it.  But that time and place is heaven.  Someone once said there are three things that you will not find in heaven.  Three things that seemed important here on earth.  What are those three things?  Food, sex and money!  Why these things are so important to us today that if they are not in heaven who wants to go there?  When you consider the alternate to heaven, that may change our minds a bit.  But the reason the things on earth will be  so far from our thought is found in I Corinthians 2:9… “

What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no

human mind has conceived”— the things God has prepared

for those who love him—

That just makes me want to love God all the more.  Think about it, that which is so consuming on earth can’t compare to the things in heaven!  I’m in, how about you?
