Home and ready!

We made it home safe and we are rested and ready for 2016; The year of evangelism.  We travelled over 4200 miles and visited with family and friends.  We attended four churches and took a 5 day cruise in the Gulf of Mexico.  All in all it was fine.  But the truth is all I could think about was SSCC and the year of evangelism. 

     Did you know that the main purpose for the church to exist is to evangelize the world?  God knows and we should too, that the best way to make the world a strong, safe and fulfilling place is to have a clear commitment and understanding of who God is and how to live for Him.  If everyone (I doubt that will ever happen) was living for God and trying to please Him, war and hatred, violence and smut would disappear.

    So the church is intended to be the beacon of God’s light for all people.  Each of us can be evangelistic in training and nature.  We want more people, dare I say all people, to know Christ and receive His forgiveness and His heaven.  So we invite, witness His love and kindness, serve to show His beauty and grace, we reason and persuade, we do anything in our power and His to ‘proclaim the message.’

     The message is this; living for Jesus is the best way to live.  Living for Jesus is the only way to heaven.  Living for Jesus makes the world a better place.  Living for Jesus is the answer to prayer “thy Kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.”  Yes the message is all about the difference Jesus can make in your life and even the world.

     To be an evangelist requires two things.  First; know how to become a Christian and live for Him.  Out of this understanding you can lead others to a life of a Christian.  Second; that you live for Jesus.  It is out of your holy living that people will see your good works and give God the glory.  If they see Him living in you, if they know He is the one who is making a difference in your life, they too may want it for themselves.
