Encouragement original

What encourages one person may discourage another.  Example: A shoe salesman is sent to Africa.  He comes home after only one day.  He is discouraged, defeated and disappointed.  He didn’t make one sale.  Why not?  He said “Nobody wears shoes in Africa.”

Now another shoe company sent another man to try the same thing.  As soon as this salesman arrives he e-mails his company asking them to send a ship load of shoes, all sizes and all styles.  Why?  He said “Everyone in Africa needs shoes!”

Often times the difference between encouragement and discouragement is the point of view.  You could say it is the matter of attitude.  Dale Carnegie has quoted this little rhyme over and over, it’s about two men in prison.  They are looking from the same window, but they are seeing totally different things…

“Two menlooked out from prison bars, one saw the mud, the other saw stars.”

What do you see when look through the windows of life?  It could make a difference between being encouraged or not.
