CONTEMPORARY

Why go deeper with god original

Is contemporary a hated word?  Actually it is a loved word in most cases but hated in certain applications.  Like church music.  We (most of us) are contemporary people.  Did you ever buy a new car?  That sounds pretty modern to me.  Did you ever build or remodel your home?  Why did you make updates?  Did you ever accept a pay increase?  How up to date you are.  How about benefits like healthcare or a retirement plan.  Are you modern yet?  Did you ever change your cooking method or do you still us a wood burning stove?  Do you have a phone yet or more modernly a cell phone or even a smart phone?  Do you process words with a type writer?

I have one more question.  If you can go contemporary why can’t the church?

It is misguided to think ‘old ways are right ways.’  Let me share with you some examples of change that occur in the Bible.  How about Old Testament ways to New Testament ways?  Or Saturday worship to Sunday worship?  Or temple worship to house churches?  Or house worship to church building worship?  Or a love feast to communion emblems?  Change is everywhere, contemporary is common and we haven’t even talked about the music yet!
