Brave and Bold

Did you ever think that God wants you to be brave and bold for Him and His kingdom? I think most of us believe that God doesn’t want or need anything from me. I only need stuff from Him. But think about these words from His Son, (Matthew 5:16) In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
This tells me He wants you and I to do good deeds, and then give God the glory for the deeds we have done. Am I reading that right? Do you see it that way too?
Here’s how I think it might work. If you see someone broke down on the road and you help them in some way. Maybe you give them a lift, or make a call for them or whatever it may be. If you do a good deed but say nothing, that person will say “thank you.” Nice enough. But, we should put in a word or two from God. Like maybe,” Don’t thank me, thank God, He told me to help you.” If we say something like that then God will get the glory, at least some it. Then the verse we just read will have truth in it that God will get the glory.
Anytime we do anything good we should give God the glory and we should encourage the person we did good to, to also give God the glory. Then it would be easier to invite them to attend church with us, or engage in some kind of conversation about God’s love for all mankind.
We should be seen doing good, but that is not enough. We should be heard as to why we did the good. God gets the glory and you and I, with a little bravery and boldness, did something for Him. I feel good when I do something for Him. Mostly I just want and need something from Him. But on occasion, we can do something for Him. Make it a habit and before you know it, our light is shining all the time!
