A Famous Story from the Christian American Landscape
This may be the favorite story that comes in the aftermath of the 9/11 terrorists attack. I know it is my favorite. David and Peggy Beamer were being interviewed often and were in great demand for their story about their son Todd Beamer.
You may remember, Todd was a passenger on flight 93 that was hijacked by terrorists. He was one of several who charged the cockpit and downed the plane in a Pennsylvania field instead of Pennsylvania Avenue where is was most likely headed. Before saying “let’s roll” he attempted to call his wife Lisa to say good-bye. He left a message with the GTE operator and asked her to say the Lord’s Prayer with him before he hung up.
Todd Beamer had parents who understood something about life and ministry and they successfully taught it to their son. Christianity is not a career but a life-style. They taught their son three things…

In the interviews, the Beamer’s were obviously and rightly proud of their son. Mrs. Beamer fought back tears to proudly say that her son gave his life for our country, he had courage to stand for Jesus and he is now in heaven!
This kind of deep, rich, purposeful life is the result of ministry in the name of Jesus.
